Questrade Crypto
Background:
Questrade is a Canadian broker, established in 1999, that offers Canadian residents and citizens an alternative to trading and investing with the big banks. If you already have a registered (RRSP and TFSA) account with any Canadian broker/financial institution, you can transfer it to Questrade. Questrade’s mobile app —QuestMobile— is an easy to use trading app designed for anyone who wants to invest in the stock market. The app allows to trade, research, and move your money all through one single app available in IOS and Android.
Roles:
I assumed the following roles designing this app:
-
User Experience (UX) Designer
-
Interaction (IxD) Designer
-
User Interface (UI) Designer
Objective:
The new QuestMobile Crypto will be an additional feature that will provide customers with the option of buying or selling from a pre-selected list of cryptocurrencies using the QuestMobile App. This new feature will allow users to place two types of buy or sell orders:
Market orders: that let you buy or sell a cryptocurrency immediately at the best available price at the time of submission,
Limit orders: that let you buy or sell a cryptocurrency at a specific limit price or better.
Deliverables:
Interaction Design:
High-fidelity interactive prototypes for key tasks on iOS
UX/UI Design:
-
Competitive analysis
-
User journeys and task flows
-
Site map
-
Low-fidelity wireframes
-
High-fidelity mockups and prototypes
Low-Fidelity Wireframes
Once I worked on the task flow to buy and sell I created some low fidelity wireframe sketches of the main screens, the home screen that shows users what coins are available, the individual page where you can see information of a particular coin, and the "place order" screen.
User Persona
Questrade Crypto is meant to be for casual crypto investors who are not interested in trading but holding a small amount of Bitcoin and Ethirium.
User Flow
It was important to define how current users of the the Questmobile app would purchase crypto. The flow is similar to the existing process that is currently used in the app to buy or sell stocks.
High-Fidelity Prototypes
Using QuestMobile's existing components I created the new feature for purchasing and selling crypto.
Lessons Learned
This project taught me to work within the constraints of an already exiting product and brand, relying on already existing patterns, flows, and components.
I also had to think about how the product would work for an older audience who is less tech savvy but has more money to invest. for this I had to understand and address the needs of everyday users with no background in technology to make cryptocurrency trading easy by providing comprehensive functionality and reducing friction.
